A memorable day at Phillip Island for Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra in the opening round of the 2026 WorldSBK season. After securing a top-10 result in Superpole, the young Italian rider finished Race 1 in ninth place, delivering a strong result in his debut race in the category.
A solid and progressive performance, built on a strong start and several overtakes throughout the 22 laps, which allowed Surra to remain consistently inside the top ten. The result confirms the work carried out by the team during the winter and pre-season tests.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER
“Today went really well, I’m very happy. It was great to be battling with some of the strongest riders in the world in this WorldSBK Championship. Being one of the youngest and a rookie in the category, I’m trying to be incisive right from the start.
I’m really pleased to have stayed inside the top 10 for the whole race. I focused on understanding how the tyres behaved, as it was my first time using them on this bike. I want to thank the team — they did an amazing job as always. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow!”
LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER
“A great start in this first race in Australia. We are happy with everything, especially the overtakes made by our rider and the work done by the whole team. The bike worked really well and the sacrifices made to be ready here are paying off.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supports us, our technical and commercial partners, the guys back at home who worked hard all winter and the team here at the track. Tomorrow will be Surra’s first Superpole Race — let’s see what we can achieve.”
