Team Motocorsa Racing’s weekend at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours continues on a positive note. After finishing seventh in Friday’s combined standings, Alberto Surra confirmed his good feeling with the French circuit on Saturday, securing fifth position in Superpole before finishing Race 1 in eighth place.
The day began with an excellent performance in Superpole. Surra stopped the clock at 1’35.141, securing P5 and a place on the second row of the grid for Race 1.
In the afternoon, Alberto delivered a solid performance in Race 1, which was interrupted by a red flag and subsequently restarted over a distance of twelve laps. At the restart, the Team Motocorsa Racing rider maintained a strong pace, defended his position and eventually crossed the finish line in eighth place.
It was a positive Saturday for Alberto and the entire team, finally completing a race after the abrupt end to the Donington Park weekend. For the team, this P8 certainly represents a positive starting point after the summer break. With his Race 1 result, Surra moves up to 103 points in the WorldSBK Championship standings, sitting 12th overall, level on points with Andrea Locatelli.

“It was a bit of an unusual race because I got a really strong start the first time around: we were running fourth or fifth and maintaining a good pace. Then, from the halfway point onwards, we started to struggle a little with rear grip. Together with the team, we are working to find the best approach for tomorrow. I’m quite happy with the race and the team is happy too. It will definitely give us extra motivation to try to do even better tomorrow, while also taking the best possible care of my shoulder. I’m really happy to be back on track and I want to thank the whole team!”
