The 2026 WorldSBK Championship comes to an end for Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. On the final race day of the season, the Italian rider secured eighth position in the Superpole Race and ninth in Race 2, completing a challenging weekend at a circuit that has proved particularly demanding for him and bringing his first WorldSBK season to a close after a year of significant progress and achievements.
Sunday began with the Superpole Race, in which Surra crossed the finish line in P8. In the afternoon, Alberto returned to the track for the final race of the championship, finishing Race 2 in ninth position. These results add to the sixth-place finish achieved in Saturday’s Race 1, completing a weekend during which rider and team worked continuously to improve the feeling with the Ducati Panigale V4 RS and overcome the challenges of the Spanish circuit.
With the final chequered flag at Jerez, a season that has seen Alberto Surra grow race after race and achieve important milestones alongside Team Motocorsa Racing comes to an end. A journey that began with his first experiences in the category and culminated in outstanding results during the final rounds: from his first podium in the Superpole Race at Cremona to three third-place finishes in a single weekend at Estoril, including his first podium in a full-length WorldSBK race.
Adding to the positive outcome of his debut season are his final championship standings: Surra finishes the 2026 WorldSBK Championship eighth overall and fourth in the Independent Riders’ standings, also finishing as the highest-placed rookie of the season. A significant achievement for the young Italian rider and Team Motocorsa Racing, reflecting the progress made and the hard work carried out together throughout the year.
Team Motocorsa Racing therefore brings an intense season to a close, one filled with challenges, commitment and unforgettable moments, during which the dedication of the entire staff and Alberto’s determination have made it possible to achieve important results. A year that leaves the team with great satisfaction and even greater motivation for the future.
For an independent team like Motocorsa Racing, competing against the factory teams in the WorldSBK Championship represents a major challenge, requiring commitment, sacrifice and determination every single day. Being able to compete with the factory teams, fighting for positions on track and achieving such significant results, is a source of immense pride and satisfaction for the entire team. None of this would have been possible without your invaluable support and the trust you have placed in the Motocorsa Racing project throughout this extraordinary season. Our sincerest thanks go to everyone who has supported us and helped make 2026 such a special year.
With the 2026 season officially over, attention is already turning to next year: Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing will continue together in 2027, ready to build on the foundations laid during their first season and work towards new achievements.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER
“It’s been a difficult weekend, but we knew it would be. Today, regardless of the result, I managed to take another step forward with my riding, especially in Race 2, and I’m really happy about that. I want to thank everyone who has followed and supported me from home, as well as the entire team for this fantastic 2026. It’s been a great season, and I’m sure we’ll come back in 2027 even more motivated and determined to keep improving. Thank you all for this season!”
LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER
“With this ninth-place finish, we bring a fantastic 2026 season to a close, marked by Alberto’s enormous progress during his rookie year in WorldSBK. We still have a lot to improve and plenty to learn at several circuits. Next year, both the tyres and the regulations will change, so there will be a lot of work to do over the winter. I want to thank all our sponsors, friends and supporters, but above all the entire Motocorsa Racing team, both those working at the track and those working back at our headquarters, as well as everyone who has contributed to making this season so special. We finish the World Championship in eighth position with Alberto and fourth in the Independent Riders’ standings. It has truly been a fantastic year!”
