MOTOCORSA RACING: SURRA AND THE TEAM SECURE P6 IN RACE 1 AT JEREZ

A challenging but satisfying Saturday for Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, hosting the final round of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship. At a circuit that has proved particularly demanding for the Italian rider, the team continued to work and make progress, securing a solid sixth-place finish in Race 1.

The day began with the final Free Practice session of the weekend, after which Surra maintained fifth position in the combined standings. In the following Superpole session, Alberto qualified eighth, securing a place on the third row of the grid.

In the afternoon, Surra approached Race 1 with determination, gaining two positions from his starting place and crossing the finish line in P6, just 12 seconds behind the race winner. A particularly significant result at a circuit where both rider and team have faced several challenges, but where they have managed to make important steps forward session after session.

Sixth position rewards the hard work carried out by the entire Team Motocorsa Racing and highlights Alberto’s progress, having started his preparations for the season at Jerez during the January tests. Since then, the Italian rider has continued to improve his feeling with the Ducati Panigale V4 RS, demonstrating the progress made throughout his rookie WorldSBK season.

Sunday will mark the final race day of the 2026 season, with the Superpole Race in the morning and Race 2 in the afternoon. Alberto and Motocorsa Racing are ready to give their all until the very last chequered flag, aiming to continue improving and finish their first season together in the best possible way.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“Today’s race was very difficult, but we managed to find the right feeling. We made a step forward compared to yesterday, and I’m sure that tomorrow, together with the team, we can take one final step forward. As always, I want to thank the entire team for the incredible work we’ve been doing since the beginning of the season.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“An unexpected sixth-place finish at a circuit that doesn’t particularly suit our rider. Alberto had already told us this, and we had seen it ourselves during the tests at the beginning of the season. He has made enormous progress since January, and today we managed to finish just 12 seconds behind the race winner. This P6 means even more because it comes at a circuit where we’ve struggled throughout the weekend. However, we’ve done an excellent job: with every session, the bike improves, the rider improves and the feeling gets better. We still have two races tomorrow, and our goal is to keep improving as much as possible.”
