MOTOCORSA RACING: PHILLIP ISLAND WEEKEND WRAP-UP – P12 IN RACE 2

The opening round of the 2026 WorldSBK season at Phillip Island comes to an end for Team Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra with a double twelfth-place finish in the Superpole Race and Race 2.

A weekend of steady progress for the Italian rookie, who stayed composed in difficult conditions and managed Race 2 in heavy rain with maturity, avoiding mistakes and fighting back in the second half of the race.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“Overall, it was a very positive weekend here at Phillip Island. It’s a shame about Race 2 in the wet, as we didn’t have the ideal setup, but we still gained valuable experience for the upcoming rounds. I feel very happy and satisfied and I’m already looking forward to the next round in Portimao, a track I know better. I’d like to thank the team — we worked well and brought home important points.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“This Australian round comes to an end with a twelfth-place finish both in the Superpole Race and Race 2, bringing home important points and a very positive mindset. The wet race was extremely challenging — in the early laps we dropped back after contact between two riders ahead of us, but Surra produced a strong comeback. Naturally, riders with more experience made the difference over race distance. The pace was still good and there’s room to improve. This is only the beginning and we still have a lot of work to do to reach our goals. Thanks to everyone.”
