The opening day of action at MotorLand Aragón saw Team Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra complete the first two free practice sessions of Round 6 of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship. In extremely hot conditions throughout the day, the Italian rider finished 10th in the combined standings with a best lap of 1’49.786, just 0.870 seconds from the fastest time.
The work completed during Friday provided positive indications in terms of the Ducati Panigale V4 RS’s balance. Following the encouraging results achieved at Most and during last week’s Misano test, the team continued its development programme and established a solid foundation heading into Saturday’s Superpole and Race 1.
During FP1, Surra received a penalty for setting an improved sector time under yellow flag conditions. As a result, the Italian rider will start Race 1 from the back of the grid. While the sanction will make Saturday’s race more challenging, it does not take away from the positive progress shown throughout the day.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER
“It was a positive first Friday, both in the morning and in the afternoon. We are working hard to find the right setup for this track. I really like Aragón, but as with all the circuits I knew from my Moto2 days, the approach with this bike is completely different. We still managed to finish Friday inside the top ten, which is definitely a positive sign. Now we need to keep working and continue improving over the next few days.”
LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER
“Eight tenths from the fastest time and tenth position in the combined standings between FP1 and FP2. It was extremely hot, but we are working well. Tomorrow we will focus more on race pace because today we worked on specific setups to improve the bike’s balance, and during the morning session we will carry out a race pace simulation. It is a shame about the mistake made this morning under yellow flag conditions during the first free practice session. Alberto apologised to Dorna and the race officials, but because of the penalty we will have to start Race 1 from the back of the grid. It will certainly make tomorrow’s race more difficult, but the rules are there and must be respected. We know Alberto is a rookie and that his development process also includes situations like this. It is our responsibility to help him continue growing round after round. Ahead of Superpole, we will also prepare a dedicated setup and test some Motocorsa components that we evaluated during last week’s Misano test.”
