Round 5 of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship at the Autodrom Most comes to an end with extremely positive results for Team Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra. On a circuit he had never raced at before, the Italian rider showed a strong feeling with the Czech track from the very first sessions, building one of the most solid weekends of the season lap after lap.
Saturday started with an outstanding Superpole session finished in fifth position — Surra’s best qualifying result so far in WorldSBK — followed by ninth place in Race 1 despite a long lap penalty received after a contact in the opening stages of the race.
The progress shown throughout the weekend was further confirmed on Sunday, with another fifth-place finish in the Superpole Race and a hard-fought Race 2 completed in sixth position. Surra was involved in intense battles throughout the races, fighting until the very end to defend every position, especially during the long duel with Garrett Gerloff (team Kawasaki ZX-10RR), which became one of the most exciting moments of Race 2.
A weekend that confirms the strong work carried out by Team Motocorsa Racing and the steady growth of the Italian rider in his rookie WorldSBK season. The results achieved at Most represent an important step forward both in terms of competitiveness and confidence, with the focus now shifting to this week’s Misano test and the upcoming Aragón round.

“It was a really positive weekend. At the beginning we had some difficulties because I didn’t know the track, but already from Race 1, and especially in Race 2, the feeling was very good. The battles on track, especially with Gerloff, were really enjoyable and being up there fighting at the front was important. Now we need to keep working to understand what we are still missing in order to take another step forward and get even closer to the riders ahead of us. Finishing another weekend inside the top 10, with both Sunday races inside the top 6, is very positive. I really want to thank Team Motocorsa for this Superbike journey we are building together.”
