Round 9 of the WorldSBK Championship at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours comes to an end with an excellent Sunday for Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing. The Italian rookie delivered two strong performances, securing fourth position in the Superpole Race and finishing Race 2 in fifth place.
The day got off to the best possible start with the Superpole Race. It was an important result for Alberto, as he equalled his best-ever finish in the WorldSBK Championship, previously achieved at Aragón. His 6.77-second gap to the winner also marked Surra’s smallest gap to the race winner so far in WorldSBK,
His fourth-place finish in the morning race allowed Surra to secure fourth position on the grid for Race 2. In the afternoon, Alberto made a strong start, staying with the leading group and delivering another intense performance. At the end of the race, the Team Motocorsa Racing rider took the chequered flag in fifth position, completing an extremely positive Sunday.
With the points scored on Sunday, Alberto also moves up to 120 points in the WorldSBK Championship standings, climbing to ninth position, ahead of Álvaro Bautista and just six points behind Garrett Gerloff, currently eighth.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER
“It was a great weekend and I’m really happy. We’re constantly improving: there are still a few things we need to work on, but we’re starting to turn all our hard work into some really good results. I want to thank the whole team for the work they did throughout this weekend, which has been extremely positive. Now I can’t wait to get to Cremona and experience another home round!”
LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER
“We come to the end of a weekend that we are extremely happy with. On Saturday, we secured an excellent eighth place in Race 1 after a great qualifying session that allowed us to start from fifth on the grid. Today, we then achieved a fantastic fourth place in the Superpole Race and a brilliant P5 in Race 2, bringing our Magny-Cours weekend to the best possible conclusion. We also leave France with a very important ninth position in the World Championship standings, which gives us great satisfaction and confirms the quality of the work we are doing. Next week we will be back on track to take part in the Michelin tests, which will give us our first taste of this important change ahead of 2027. We will then also complete a day of testing with Pirelli at Cremona, as we begin preparing for our home round at the end of September. I would like to sincerely thank the entire team for their incredible work, our sponsors, everyone supporting us from home, Alberto’s fans and everyone who continues to believe in the Motocorsa Racing project.”
