MOTOCORSA RACING: A STRONG FRIDAY WITH A TOP 5 AT BALATON FOR SURRA AND THE TEAM

Round 4 of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship gets off to a great start at the Balaton Park Circuit for Team Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra. On a completely new track for the Italian rider, the opening day of free practice ended with an impressive fifth place in the combined standings, thanks to a lap time of 1’39.382, just 0.522 off the fastest reference.

A result of real value considering that this was Surra’s very first outing at the Hungarian circuit. It confirms his ability to adapt quickly, as well as the strong work carried out by the team, which provided positive indications and a solid base to build on ahead of Saturday, when the action will intensify with Superpole and Race 1.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“It was a good Friday. It was my first time at Balaton and I really like the layout of the track. I’m happy, but I believe there is still margin, so we need to stay calm and keep improving. It’s also nice not to be the last Ducati anymore — we’ve put a few behind us and today we’re P5. The team is doing a great job and I feel they are understanding my riding style better and better. There is still a lot of work to do, but I’m looking forward to continuing and getting back on track.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“Fifth place in FP2 is a very positive sign. It’s been a while since we were this close to the front group. It’s only Friday, but for us it’s a very good result, especially considering we are still at the beginning of our journey with a rookie like Surra. We are improving race by race. Tomorrow there will still be a lot of work to do, especially with three races scheduled over the weekend.”
