MOTOCORSA RACING: A MIXED WEEKEND IN PORTIMÃO, CRASH IN RACE 2 FOR SURRA

The Sunday of Round 2 of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship at Portimão for Team Motocorsa Racing and Alberto Surra began with the Superpole Race, which the Italian rider finished in fifteenth position, useful to continue working on race pace and distance management, with some remaining difficulties in tyre management, especially in the second part of the race.

In Race 2, Surra’s race ended with a crash, fortunately without consequences, bringing the team’s weekend to an early close. A weekend that did not go as hoped, but which still provides important indications to build on ahead of the next round in Assen.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“We tried several solutions on the bike compared to yesterday and made a step forward from the start of the weekend, but unfortunately we were not able to finish Race 2 due to a crash. Now we need to understand what happened and we will work towards the next round in Assen. As always, I would like to thank the team, who are doing a great job.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“Unfortunately, the race ended with a crash while we were in fourteenth position, and that’s how our Portimão weekend came to an end. There is still a lot of work to do to improve the feeling with the bike.”
