MOTOCORSA RACING: SURRA FINISHES FRIDAY AT JEREZ P5 IN THE COMBINED STANDINGS

The final race weekend of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship has officially begun at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing took to the Spanish circuit for the first two Free Practice sessions, ending the day with the fifth-fastest time in the combined standings and positive feelings ahead of the weekend’s races.

In the morning’s FP1 session, Alberto secured fifth position, immediately getting to work on race pace and the setup of his Ducati Panigale V4 RS. The work continued in the afternoon, with the team testing different tyre compounds, both SC0 and SCX, and a fourth-place finish in FP2 confirming the positive progress made throughout the day.

With a best lap time of 1’38.597, just 0.442 seconds off the fastest time, Surra finished Friday in P5 in the combined standings. The data collected during both sessions will now be analysed by the team to identify the best solutions ahead of the weekend’s first race.

Action resumes on Saturday with FP3 and Superpole, followed by Race 1 in the afternoon. Alberto and Motocorsa Racing are ready to give their all in this final round of the season, determined to finish 2026 in the best possible way.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“I’m happy with today’s performance because Jerez isn’t a circuit that comes particularly naturally to me, so finishing P5 is already a great result. We also managed to secure fourth position in the afternoon session. We carried out a lot of testing, including different tyre compounds, and now we just need to find a little something extra for tomorrow. I’m still very confident that we can achieve the best possible result at this circuit as well. I want to thank the whole team for helping me understand how to approach and ride this track in the best possible way.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“We’re very happy with today’s performance. We tested different tyre compound options, both SC0 and SCX. This evening, we’ll analyse all the data collected to decide on the best approach for tomorrow’s full-length race. Tomorrow morning, we’ll focus on qualifying and continue working to be as competitive as possible.”
