MOTOCORSA RACING: FIRST FULL-LENGTH WORLDSBK RACE PODIUM FOR SURRA! P3 IN RACE 1 AT ESTORIL

Another Saturday to remember for Alberto Surra and Team Motocorsa Racing at the Estoril Circuit. Following their historic podium in the Superpole Race at Cremona, the Italian rider reached another major milestone: third position in Race 1 and his first podium in a full-length WorldSBK race.

The day had already started on a positive note in FP3, with Surra finishing third, just 0.124 seconds off the fastest time. In Superpole, Alberto confirmed his competitiveness by securing P4, 0.627 seconds from pole position, earning himself a place on the second row of the grid.

In the afternoon, Surra delivered an extraordinary performance in Race 1. Starting from fourth on the grid, the Team Motocorsa Racing rider made an excellent start, immediately moving into the leading positions and maintaining a highly competitive race pace. Alberto defended third position against Miguel Oliveira, managing to keep a gap of around two seconds to the Portuguese rider before eventually crossing the finish line in P3, less than ten seconds behind race winner Nicolò Bulega and around six seconds behind the second-place finisher.

An incredibly significant result for Motocorsa Racing, securing their second consecutive podium together with Alberto Surra, this time in Saturday’s full-length race. A performance that confirms the continued progress of both rider and team, who are turning the hard work carried out throughout the season into increasingly important results.

The Portuguese weekend is not over yet: Alberto and the team will return to the track on Sunday for the Superpole Race and Race 2, aiming to build on this result and finish the penultimate round of the 2026 WorldSBK Championship in the best possible way.

ALBERTO SURRA – RIDER

“It was a fantastic race! I want to dedicate this result to Maurizio, Lorenzo, Ale and the entire team, who have given me tremendous support throughout this journey. I’m sure we’re building something really special together. We mustn’t stop here, but keep working hard and giving our all to achieve even better results. For now, though, we’re going to enjoy this amazing result! I also want to thank all my personal sponsors and the team’s sponsors, who have made all of this possible.”

LORENZO MAURI – TEAM MANAGER

“It has been a very intense Saturday. Qualifying was crucial to starting near the front, and Alberto did a fantastic job with the clutch release at the start and pushing hard in the opening laps. He managed to keep Miguel Oliveira around two seconds behind him throughout the race, but the most important thing is that we finished less than ten seconds behind the winner and just six seconds behind second place. For us, this podium in a full-length race feels like a victory. Finishing third, less than ten seconds behind a rider like Bulega, is an extraordinary result for an independent team like Motocorsa Racing. We’re absolutely delighted. The entire team has done an excellent job, and this result is a reward for all the hard work we’ve put in. The weekend is far from over, with two more races ahead of us, but today we want to enjoy this fantastic podium. I want to thank the whole team, including everyone working back at the workshop, our sponsors, our friends and everyone who supports us.”
